I brought this Marin Palisades Trail frame - with some parts - on eBay. I wanted to build up a new used mountain bike for my nine year old son, who will most likely out grow his Specialized Hot Rock. It was the 10th whole bike or frame that I’ve purchased off eBay.
The frame is a 2001 model in polished aluminum with black lettering. It is made with 7005 aluminum and is 11.5” from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the top tube. The total weight is about 28 pounds.
The bike is set up as a 1×8 with a single speed specific middle ring (104×34T) by Salsa and a BBG bash guard that replaced by big ring.

Kona Fire Mountain MTB - 2001 Model
This Kona Fire Mountain was my second mountain bike - used or otherwise - purchased on eBay. My first bike off eBay was also a Kona mountain bike. It was a 2003 Kona Cinder Cone. It was nice but the frame was a bit too big for me. So I stripped all the parts off the bike and sold the frame on eBay.
The Fire Mountain was in very good condition when I got it, and it still is. But I upgraded everything on the bike except for the Kona Control stem. Some parts were from the Kona Cinder Cone. The 2001 model came in Bright Gold Metallic. Some people love the color and some people hate it. I think the gold color looks a lot better that any shade of yellow. My wife rides the bike and she is okay with the color. The frame is 16" which is just right for her. The weight of the bike is around 25 pounds.
